Surf Clothing

Surf Clothing has a relatively short history, but the brands involved have come to dominate popular culture. Most brands originated in Australia and then began selling in the US. Take quicksilver for example. This clothing company was founded in Australia in 1970. However it moved to Huntington Beach, California, where it is still headquartered.

Quicksilver has been a manufacturer of men’s surf clothing since its inception. After the move to the US, they also started a women’s apparel under the brand name Roxy. Today both Quicksilver and Roxy are major players in the fashion scene today. As much as clothing, they sell a lifestyle that appeals to youth.

You see, surf clothing is about more than just what you’re wearing. It’s supposed to embody a way of living that is care free and ultimately cool. That message has resonated with the identity starved youth of the US, and both Quicksilver and Roxy are now major brands. So the next time you think about what to wear remember that surf clothing is a great option regardless of whether you’re going to the beach or to the mall.
